The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has chosen not to extend No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for national cricketers, restricting their participation in international leagues.
Despite pleas from players currently engaged in ongoing T20 leagues like UAE ILT20 and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024, the PCB has held firm in its position.
Insiders from the PCB indicate that numerous cricketers had requested NOC extensions to seize opportunities in these prominent leagues. However, following a comprehensive assessment, the board opted against expanding the issuance of NOCs, notifying players that their participation is restricted until February 7.
This sudden refusal has caused disappointment among both current and prospective national team players. Even those not presently representing Pakistan’s international team but participating in ongoing leagues have been summoned back.
A player has voiced their perspective on the matter, suggesting that those with manageable workloads should be permitted to play more. With the Pakistan Super League (PSL) commencing on February 17, players could potentially engage in international leagues until then.
The player noted that some had received permission until February 13, and one player was granted permission until February 16. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should establish a consistent policy, allowing non-national team players to participate in such leagues.
