The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced major changes to its central contracts structure.
According to the new system, Test and One Day International cricketers will be placed in Tracks A and B. The PCB said that Track A will include red-ball specialists, while Tracks B and C will feature ODI and T20 players.
Under the new framework, Track C will be reserved exclusively for T20 cricketers, whereas Track D will consist of emerging players from development and academy setups.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that 85% of players’ contracts will be performance-based. He added that data from domestic cricket is also being incorporated into the system, stressing that achieving strong results is a collective responsibility.
Naqvi said that while the team has performed well in bilateral series, results in tournaments need improvement, and work is underway in this regard. He said the board is ensuring better facilities and accountability, including mandatory participation in domestic cricket, warning that non-compliance will have consequences.
He also supported conducting fitness tests in front of the media and said the selection committee has significant responsibilities.
According to him, players have been fully briefed, and the new model recognizes the unique demands of each format in line with modern cricket requirements.
