ISLAMABAD: Palestine Foreign Minister Dr Riyad Al Maliki has appreciated Pakistan’s principled, steadfast and unflinching support during a conversation with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Quereshi.
According to a statement issued by Foreign Office, the Palestine Foreign Minister appreciated Prime Minister Imran Khan’s unambiguous position on the recent crisis, while thanking Pakistan for the consistent diplomatic support received to Palestine at regional and international fora.
During the conversation, FM Qureshi condemned Israeli forces’ attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and continued airstrikes on Gaza that have so far killed at least 122 innocent civilians, including children.
He reiterated Pakistan’s unequivocal support for the rights of Palestinian people and their just struggle. The foreign minister also briefed Dr Maliki on Pakistan’s efforts to sensitise the international community on violations of human rights and international law.
Recalling the recent telephonic call between PM Imran Khan and the Palestinian President, the foreign minister reassured Dr Maliki of Pakistan’s steadfast support to Palestinian people during these testing times.
FM Qureshi spoke to the Palestinian Foreign Minister as part of his wider outreach to the Foreign Ministers of key Islamic countries with a view to helping address the serious situation in Palestine. Earlier, the Foreign Minister also spoke with the Saudi Foreign Minister and consulted him on the issue.
