Pakistan’s Muhammad Zubair was crowned Tekken 8 world champion after defeating South Korea’s LowHigh in the grand final of the Esports World Cup (EWC) in Paris on Saturday.
Zubair dominated the final, sweeping LowHigh 5-0 to claim the title and a $250,000 prize. His victory came after a remarkable run through the tournament, including wins over fellow Pakistani esports star Arslan “Ash” Siddique.
Zubair first defeated Arslan in the second group stage on Friday before edging him 5-4 in a thrilling semifinal on Saturday.

Arslan, an eight-time Evolution Championship Series (Evo) winner and one of Pakistan’s most prominent esports players, finished fourth after losing the third-place decider to Australia’s Yagami.
The EWC celebrated Zubair’s unexpected triumph on social media, saying he “came out of nowhere and took the crown.”
The Tekken 8 tournament was held from August 5 to 8 in Paris, bringing together some of the world’s leading fighting-game players.
