Pakistani citizens traveling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will now be required to obtain a police verification report, according to Director General of the Bureau of Immigration Muhammad Tayyab, who announced the new requirement on Monday.
Tayyab said that travel agents facilitating trips to the UAE must adhere to this directive.
During the meeting, Senator Shahadat Awan raised concerns about whether the UAE’s previously imposed restrictions on Pakistani nationals were still in effect. In response, Tayyab confirmed the new police clearance requirement and acknowledged the restrictions.
Secretary of Overseas Pakistanis Arshad Mahmood addressed the issue of employment visas, noting that while unskilled workers have faced delays, skilled laborers are still securing UAE visas.
Mahmood added that discussions are ongoing with UAE authorities to resolve these issues and increase the quota of Pakistani workers in the UAE from 1.6 million to 1.8 million. As of this year, 65,000 Pakistanis have already traveled to the UAE.
Moreover, UAE Consul General Dr. Bakheet Ateeq Al Remeithi clarified last month that there is no visa ban on Pakistani nationals and encouraged those needing visas to visit the UAE visa center directly.
