A Saith (employer) in Kot Radha Kishan allegedly cut off four fingers of his employee with a sharp tool when asked for his salary deposit, Aaj News reported on Monday.
The victim, Owais, had been employed under Irfan at a warehouse in Bhamba Khurd near Kot Radha Kishan in Kasur for several years. Throughout his employment, Owais had repeatedly requested Irfan to hold his earnings as a deposit.
However, when Owais approached Irfan to retrieve his money, the situation escalated, resulting in the employer allegedly subjecting him to torture. It’s reported that Irfan used a sharp tool to sever four fingers from Owais’s hand.
The victim’s family has called for justice, appealing to Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz and IG Punjab to intervene in the matter.
In Pakistan, labor laws exist, but their ineffectiveness has led to dire conditions for workers in the private sector. Not only are they underpaid, but they are also frequently denied timely payment of salaries.
