The prices of chicken meat have witnessed a significant increase in Punjab, reported a local media outlet on Monday.
According to a report in Lahore particularly, the cost of chicken meat has spiked abruptly, climbing by Rs. 32 per kilogram within a single day to reach Rs. 612. Additionally, the price of live chicken has risen by Rs. 22, reaching Rs. 422.
Meanwhile, the price of farm eggs has remained unchanged at Rs. 273 per dozen.
Earlier this month, the Poultry Association of Punjab and the provincial government engaged in successful negotiations aimed at reducing the prices of chicken meat. As a result, the Association announced a Rs. 10 decrease in the price of chicken meat in the open market. Moreover, agreements were made to lower the price of chicken by Rs. 25 per kilogram in Ramadan markets.
However, despite these efforts, the prices of fruits and vegetables have also seen an increase, adding to the financial strain on the general populace already grappling with rising inflation.
