Pakistan will not become part of any war: PM Imran

DAVOS: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Pakistan will not become part of any war and will always promote peace.
Addressing Special Session of World Economic Forum in Davos, the prime minister said Pakistan is actively participating in resolving the conflict between Iran and United States, adding that Pakistan is also playing its role in bringing peace in Afghanistan.
‘Economic Situation of the Country’
Commenting on the economic situation of Pakistan, PM Imran said that his government inherited fiscal and trade deficits at a huge scale.
He further said that his government has taken major steps that resulted in an upward trajectory of the stock market, stabilization in the value of rupee and an increase in foreign reserves.

‘Youth of Pakistan’
The premier has said that sixty percent of Pakistan’s population comprises of youth, adding that the youth has a huge potential to play an important role in the economic development of the country.
PM Imran said that they have started skill development programs encouraging youth to start their own businesses and entrepreneurial projects.
‘Resources in Pakistan’
Expressing his views on the resources in Pakistan, PM Imran said that Pakistan is gifted with rich mineral resources including gold and other deposits and the government is now focusing to exploit these fully.
PM Imran said that Pakistan is also blessed with fertile land whose full potential has yet to be explored, adding that work is being done in enhancing agricultural productivity of the country.

‘Climate Change’
Referring to the climate change, the premier said that after coming into power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2013, we embarked on planting one billion trees in the province to stop the adverse impact of global warming and successfully did it.
He further said that after becoming Prime Minister in 2018, his government objective is to make Pakistan greener by planting ten billion trees.
‘Responding to Questions’
On a question, PM Imran stated that there is no terrorism in Pakistan and since the 9/11 incident 2019 has been the safest year in the country.
He said, “Steps are being taken to exploit the tourism potential of the country after the restoration of peace.”
On a question about the Afghan peace process, PM said that there is no military solution of the Afghan crisis and it can be resolved only through dialogue, adding that starting a war is easy but very difficult to predict the course it will take after some time.
