ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is likely to set a petroleum development levy (PDL) collection target of Rs1,727 billion in the upcoming fiscal year budget, according to sources.
Sources said the new target is Rs292 billion higher than the current fiscal year’s goal and Rs157 billion more than the expected collection.
They added that Pakistan is expected to comfortably achieve the current fiscal year’s target of Rs1,468 billion. During the first 11 months (July–May), Rs1,430 billion has already been collected, while another Rs140 billion is expected in June 2026.
According to sources, the country may exceed its annual target by around Rs100 billion, taking total collections to nearly Rs1,570 billion instead of Rs1,468 billion.
Sources further stated that Rs373 billion was collected during the last three months amid the Iran-Israel conflict period, while around Rs600 billion more was collected compared to the previous year.
Monthly data shows Rs157 billion was collected in July, Rs103.46 billion in August, Rs112.85 billion in September, Rs143.48 billion in October, and Rs148.36 billion in November. Collections stood at Rs162.46 billion in December, Rs108.76 billion in January, Rs120.39 billion in February, Rs139.48 billion in March, Rs146 billion in April, and Rs87.5 billion in May.
Sources also said Rs686.52 billion was collected on imported petrol and diesel, while Rs753.54 billion came from locally refined petroleum products.
