ISLAMABAD: Foreign minister has announced an extraordinary meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on 19th December.
According to details, the expected date of the OIC meeting has been changed. Earlier, the date of the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting was fixed for 17th December, which was changed to 19th December. The Foreign Office says Pakistan will host the OIC summit.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, the Foreign Office spokesman said that the aim was to take necessary steps before the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. “We have also invited permanent members of the Security Council to attend the conference,” it added.
During the news conference, the Foreign Office spokesman said that Pakistan had invited other international financial institutions, including the World Bank, to attend the conference. The country seeks the cooperation of the international community for the establishment of peace in Afghanistan.
Earlier, Pakistan offered to host an extraordinary meeting of the OIC on the situation in neighbouring Islamic State of Afghanistan. The Foreign Minister said that today our Afghan brothers need us more than ever.
The Foreign Minister released a video statement regarding the hosting of the OIC Summit in November. Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that we offer to host the OIC Summit on 17th December in Islamabad and we are sure that the member countries will ratify it.
