The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that Pakistan has been awarded the hosting rights for the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, scheduled to be held in April 2025.
This comes at the heels of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy starting from February 19 in Karachi.
Six teams, including Pakistan, will participate in the qualifier matches. These include teams from Bangladesh, the West Indies, Ireland, Scotland, and Thailand.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing tri-nation cricket series, Pakistan and South Africa will clash today at the National Stadium Karachi. This is the second match for both the teams. Before this, both Pakistan and South Africa played one game each against New Zealand. Both games were won by New Zealand.
The third match of the series, happening today, will be a day-night match and has assumed the importance of a semi-final. The winner of today’s game will play the final with New Zealand on February 14.
Fast bowler Haris Rauf will not participate in the remaining matches of the tri-series due to injury. Akif Javed has been included in the Pakistan cricket team’s squad for the tri-series.
