Pakistan has condemned the US decision to impose sanctions on the National Development Complex (NDC) and three commercial entities, calling it “unfortunate and biased,” stating that it undermines the goal of peace and security.
In a statement issued late Wednesday night, the Foreign Office expressed its disapproval of the US sanctions, which targeted NDC, Affiliates International, Akhtar and Sons Private Limited, and Rockside Enterprise under Executive Order (E.O.) 13382.
The statement emphasized that Pakistan’s strategic capabilities are intended to protect its sovereignty and promote peace and stability in South Asia. The imposition of these sanctions, it said, contradicts the pursuit of peace by intensifying military imbalances, which could have dangerous implications for regional and global strategic stability.
It further stated that Pakistan’s strategic program is a sacred trust, held in high regard by its 240 million citizens, and cannot be compromised.
Pakistan also expressed regret over the sanctions imposed on private commercial entities, pointing out that similar sanctions in the past were based on unsubstantiated suspicions rather than concrete evidence.
The statement criticized what it called double standards, noting that despite claims of adherence to non-proliferation norms, past instances of waiving licensing requirements for advanced military technology to other countries have occurred. This, it argued, undermines the credibility of non-proliferation efforts and jeopardizes regional and international peace and security.
