ISLAMABAD: The fifth wave of coronavirus has intensified in Pakistan, with 6047 new cases being recorded in the country and 29 people having lost their lives.
According to the data released by the National Command and Operations Center, due to the spread of Omicron, a further 6047 cases were reported in Pakistan in the last 24 hours and 29 deaths were recorded.
According to the NCOC, the total number of deaths after 29 new deaths has now risen to 29,330 while the number of victims after the addition of 6,047 new cases is 1436413.
611190 tests were conducted across Pakistan while the proportion of positive cases remained at 9.88 percent.

Around 9590 patients recovered from the virus after which the total number of recoveries was 1304980. The total number of active cases in the country was recorded at 102103 while the condition of 1559 patients is critical.
So far 544722 people in Sindh, 482316 in Punjab, 196328 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 129004 in Islamabad, 34501 in Balochistan, 38805 in Azad Kashmir, and 10737 in Gilgit-Baltistan have been confirmed to have coronavirus.
Besides, 13,185 people have lost their lives in Punjab, 7,840 in Sindh, 6,099 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 982 in Islamabad, 758 in Azad Kashmir, 368 in Balochistan, and 188 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
