KARACHI: Another 33 deaths and 1,315 new cases have been reported in Pakistan due to the coronavirus.
According to the National Command and Control Center, the total number of deaths from coronavirus in Pakistan has reached 12,837 while the total number of affected people has reached 578,797.
The number of coronavirus cases in Islamabad is 44,106, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 72,003, in Sindh 257,730, in Punjab 170,817, in Balochistan 19,038, in Azad Kashmir 10,147 and in Gilgit-Baltistan 4,000. 956 people have been infected with Corona.
The highest number of deaths due to coronavirus was in Punjab where 5,337 people lost their lives while 4,335 in Sindh, 2,070 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 496 in Islamabad, 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 200 in Balochistan and 297 people have lost their lives in Azad Kashmir.
Coronavirus vaccination is underway in Pakistan and in the first phase, health workers are being vaccinated against coronavirus, while people above the age of 63 have also been vaccinated.

With the number of coronavirus cases declining across the country, the federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood had announced that the restrictions imposed on schools in some major cities to conduct three-day classes in a week had been removed.
During the ongoing second wave of the pandemic, the country saw over 3,000 cases daily the number has now come down to around 1,300.
The federal and provincial governments had in a meeting at the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) last month allowed educational institutions to reopen as per their routine, but schools in four urban centres — Karachi, Hyderabad, Lahore, and Peshawar were allowed to open schools only three days a week.

However, the federal education minister earlier this week announced that such restrictions in these cities had been lifted and they were now allowed to hold regular classes.
