ISLAMABAD: Pakistan witnessed a reduction in coronavirus cases and deaths on Monday for the first time in over a week as they government mulls on restrictions during the month of Ramazan.
The nation has recorded more than five thousand cases daily for the past four days while the number of deaths from the deadly disease was more than one hundred for the last six days.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan recorded 4,584 cases and 58 deaths from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
The total number of recorded cases has reached 725,602 cases while the death toll has reached 15,501 The total number of active cases has increased to 75,266 while the positivity rate stood at — percent.
The number of critical patients who remain in in hospitals has also increased to 4,201 which could put a stain on healthcare services.
There were 44,514 coronavirus detection tests conducted in the past day, taking the total number of COVID-19 tests to 10.779 million since the first case was reported. Overall 634,835 people have recovered from the virus including 3,135 in past day.
Punjab continues to remain the worst affected area with 39,511 active cases. There have been 250,459 cases recorded so far and 6,988 deaths. Islamabad has recorded 66,380 cases and 611 deaths while there are 12,865 active cases in the region.
The province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded 99,595 cases and 2,651 deaths while there are 12,865 active cases. Sindh has recorded 269,126 cases and 4,530 deaths.
