NEW YORK: Pakistan has been re-elected as a member of the ECOSOC Youth Forum, an important organization of the United Nations.
In the voting for the membership of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) forum, Pakistan got 129 votes out of 185, Nepal got the highest 145 votes while Japan got 127 votes.
There was competition among 5 countries for 3 reserved seats for the countries of Asia and Pacific region. Iraq, Tajikistan, Japan, Pakistan, and Nepal were candidates for 2 seats reserved for Asian countries, the votes of 6 countries were rejected in the elections for 3 seats of Asian countries.

Pakistan has been re-elected for the period of 2024 to 2026, Pakistan has been elected as a member of the UN’s important and influential organization, the Ecosic Forum, for the 11th time.
Munir Akram, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, said that we will once again play an essential role in the Echosic Forum.

It should be known that Pakistan has also been the President of the United Nations Ecosic Forum 6 times. Ecosic has 54 members elected by the General Assembly for a three-year term every year.
