The All Pakistan Petroleum Pump Owners Association has announced an indefinite nationwide strike, citing the failure of negotiations with the federal government.
According to the association, petrol pumps across the country will remain closed from 12:00 a.m. on 22 July as part of the strike.
The association stated that talks with the Federal Minister for Petroleum ended without any agreement. The negotiations focused on the dealers’ demand for an increase in profit margins and concerns over the implementation of the government’s proposed daily petroleum pricing system.
In a statement, the association announced that the nationwide strike will continue until its demands are accepted.
The association has directed all petrol pump owners across Pakistan to participate fully in the strike.
It also appealed to petrol pump operators, particularly in Karachi and other parts of the country, to maintain unity and ensure that the protest remains peaceful.
The association urged the government to address its legitimate demands by taking positive and mutually acceptable decisions to resolve the dispute.
