Pakistan Navy to protect maritime interests: Naval Chief

KARACHI: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi has said the Pakistan Navy will protect national maritime interests at all costs.

The naval chief on Saturday visited Gwadar and Ormara and interacted with officers and naval personnel deployed in the coastal area and appreciated their commitment and enthusiasm.

Admiral Abbasi also inaugurated the newly constructed Marines Training Centre. This centre will provide basic training and advanced courses to marines from Pakistan and other friendly countries.

During visit to Ormara, the naval chief also inaugurated new infrastructure of the 21st Air Defense Battalion, which will further strengthen air defence of installations in coastal areas.

Yesterday, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi conferred military awards on Pakistan Navy personnel in an investiture ceremony.

The naval chief also inaugurated the Pakistan Navy’s Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Karachi. He emphasised that LTE technology would enhance the Pakistan Navy’s warfare capability and provide information superiority in both conventional and asymmetric threat situations.

He called upon on the commanders at all tiers to optimally utilise this capability taking due cognizance of information security aspects.
