Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has said the government is in talks with Netflix and other international streaming platforms to create sustainable opportunities for Pakistani filmmakers and content creators to reach global audiences.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s entertainment industry while increasing the international presence of the country’s films and television productions.

In a statement, Iqbal said Pakistani dramas and films continue to gain recognition and popularity internationally, making the country’s creative and cultural industries an important pillar of the export strategy under the “Uraan Pakistan” initiative.

He noted that global streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video play a vital role in connecting content with international audiences. To address the issue, the minister said Pakistan is engaging with Netflix and other major streaming companies to review the existing regional framework.

“Our objective is to secure fair representation and establish long-term partnerships that enable Pakistani creators to thrive on the global stage,” he added.
