ISLAMABAD: Pakistan offered condolences and deepest sympathies to Turkey over the loss of precious lives in the eastern part of the country after two avalanches killed dozens of people.
The spokesperson for the Foreign Office said in a statement, “Pakistan’s government and people share their deepest sympathies and sincere condolences and profound sorrow over the recent loss of precious lives resulting from an avalanche in eastern Turkey’s Van province on Wednesday.”

Over 33 people in eastern Turkey were killed by a second avalanche that buried a rescue team looking for people struck by the first avalanche the day before.
The government’s disaster agency AFAD said, “The remains of 33 rescue workers and citizens were found in the province of Van, where they had helped digging a minibus covered by snow late Tuesday.”
