Pakistan has achieved a milestone in regional trade as transportation of fruits has been started to Russia via land route.
In this regard, sixteen trucks of National Logistics Corporation laden with oranges have been entered into two Russian cities of Derbent and Grozny by covering almost six thousand kilometers’ distance.
Russia applauded the efforts of the NLC for the promotion of bilateral trade between both the countries.
Earlier, the Corporation also provided logistic support to export bananas, meat and seafood to Central Asian Republics’ states and China.
Previously, the Corporation extended logistical support for exporting bananas, meat, and seafood to the Central Asian Republics and China.
It’s noteworthy to mention that Pakistan initiated its first purchase of discounted Russian crude oil following a new agreement between Islamabad and Moscow in April last year.
According to experts, the introduction of shipping services has transformed trade relations between the two nations, presenting significant business opportunities and the potential to elevate bilateral trade to US$20 billion.
The direct cargo service has notably slashed shipping time from one month to 18 days.
Presently, Pakistan’s exports to Russia amount to USD$150 million, while imports reach approximately USD$300 million. However, the implementation of this direct shipping service is expected to amplify Pakistani exports to Russia by USD$2.5 billion in the forthcoming years.
