Pakistan won 10 medals, including two gold, one silver and seven bronze medals, on the opening day of the South Asian Karate Championship being held in Bangladesh.
During the first day of the championship in Mirpur, Pakistan’s Mir Hamza Kasi secured a gold medal in the minus 75kg category.
Taha Mustafa won Pakistan’s second gold medal by claiming the top position in the junior minus 63kg category.
Five Pakistani women karate athletes also won bronze medals. Anita Fatima, Hafiza Iqra Manwar, Aqsa Azam, Laiba Zia and Rabia Farooq earned bronze medals in their respective events.
In the men’s competition, Mir Waiz Khan won a silver medal for Pakistan, while Shams Iftikhar, Abdulrehman and Mir Hamza secured bronze medals.
Meanwhile, Abdul Rehman says it was a great experience to compete against the best karate athletes from South Asia and proudly represent my country on the international stage.

The 10th Cadet, Junior, U-21, & Senior South Asian Karate Championship takes place in Dhaka, Bangladesh, at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium from July 15 to 19, 2026.
