MARDAN: A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) training aircraft crashed near Mardan during a routine training flight, according to officials.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that both officers onboard were martyred in the incident. They were identified as Flight Lieutenant Muhammad Qasim Abdullah and Lieutenant Taha Abbasi.
According to ISPR, Flight Lieutenant Muhammad Qasim Abdullah belonged to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), while Lieutenant Taha Abbasi was serving with the Pakistan Navy and was onboard the training flight.
Air Headquarters has constituted a high-level Board of Inquiry to determine the exact cause of the crash. Officials said investigations have been launched immediately.
The military’s top leadership, including the Field Marshal and all service chiefs, expressed deep grief over the loss of the two officers and paid tribute to their sacrifice for the country.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also expressed sorrow over the incident, offering condolences to the families of the martyred officers and praising their service to the nation. He also prayed for the swift recovery of three civilians who were injured in the crash.
