KARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor, Dr Raza Baqir has said the overseas Pakistanis deposited $480 million in Roshan Digital Accounts.
Dr Raza Baqir said that 86,000 Pakistanis living in 97 countries have opened accounts through Roshan Digital. As a result, nearly $480 million have been parked into these accounts, he said. “This signifies a noteworthy jump from $425 million that was deposited by overseas Pakistanis as of February 4, 2021,” Dr. Raza added.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had expressed relief that the remittance through Roshan Digital Account is accelerating. The prime minister took to Twitter and wrote that he is thankful to the overseas Pakistanis as the funds sent by them through the Roshan Digital Accounts has crossed $200 million.
“I want to thank our great asset, Overseas Pakistanis. MashaAllah funds sent by them through #RoshanDigitalAccounts created by SBP crossed $200 mn yesterday. The pace is accelerating: the first $100 mn came in 76 days & the next $100 mn came in only 28 days,” the prime minister wrote.

Roshan Digital Account is a major initiative of the State Bank of Pakistan, in collaboration with commercial banks operating in Pakistan.
These accounts provide innovative banking solutions for millions of Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs) seeking to undertake banking, payment and investment activities in Pakistan.
