Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has fulfilled the promises she made to the people. She added that despite the recent floods severely affecting several parts of the province, a comprehensive survey of the affected areas has been completed, and compensation payments have begun. So far, Rs10 billion have been distributed among flood-affected families, and the remaining disbursements will be completed by November 30.

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Bukhari said that even political opponents are now compelled to acknowledge Maryam Nawaz’s initiatives. The Chief Minister, she noted, has successfully completed most of the projects launched during her first year in office.

She added that Maryam Nawaz not only delivered on the projects she had promised but also completed several additional initiatives that were never formally announced.

Criticizing the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, Bukhari claimed that “even clerks from the former administration were found with millions of rupees at home,” and that public jobs in Punjab had been turned into a corruption market. In contrast, she said, the current government bases appointments and promotions on merit and performance.

Highlighting the ‘Clean Punjab Initiative’, Bukhari said it was an unprecedented program in the country’s history, providing over 140,000 jobs, deploying billions of rupees’ worth of machinery, and ensuring the removal of thousands of tons of waste.

The minister also spoke about the electric bus project, saying that Phase 1 has been completed, under which 200 buses have been provided to various cities. Phase 2 will begin on November 19, expanding the service to more areas.

She added that by December this year, the Punjab government will receive 1,100 electric buses, which will be distributed across 42 cities in the province.
