The Opposition Grand Alliance has announced nationwide protest demonstrations on Friday.
The Tehreek Tahaffuz Aain Pakistan (Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan) has called for countrywide protests on Friday against severe inflation, rising petroleum prices, alleged lawlessness, and in support of the release of political prisoners.
The decision was made in a meeting chaired by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, after which an official statement was issued.
According to the statement, the meeting held detailed discussions on the country’s current political and economic situation. It said that rising inflation and continuous increases in fuel prices are causing serious difficulties for the public.
The statement further argued that instead of providing relief to the people, additional financial burden is being imposed on them.
The movement also demanded the release of political prisoners, saying that protests have become necessary to end alleged lawlessness and restore constitutional and democratic principles.
It added that demonstrations will be held at all district headquarters across the country on Friday.
The leadership of the movement reaffirmed that the struggle for the constitution, democracy, and public rights will continue at every level.
