KARACHI: The Sindh Food Department, in an operation on the directive of the Sindh Chief Minister, has recovered 590,000 sacks of wheat from across the province on the complaint against hoarding.
According to details, a report on the operation against wheat hoarding was submitted to Sindh Chief Minister. 590,890 sacks were recovered from different districts of 5 divisions of Sindh.
The report submitted to the Chief Minister said that Rs1 bags of wheat were recovered from Khairpur, Rs75,650 bags from Sukkur, and Rs69,770 bags of wheat from Ghotki which were stored illegally.
The report said that 3,900 sacks of wheat were recovered from Sanghar, 14,980 from Shaheed Benazirabad, and 28,000 sacks of illegally stored wheat were recovered from Naushahro Feroze.

The Sindh Food Department said that 50,000 sacks were recovered from Kashmore, 27,400 from Jacobabad, 97,000 from Qambar Shahdad Kot, and 22,065 from Shikarpur, and 31,600 from Larkana, and 1,000 from Dadu. Similarly, 30,000 sacks were recovered from Hyderabad, 600 from Tando Allahyar, 3,700 from Matiari, 1,138 sacks from Thatta / Sujawal, and 10,922 sacks from Badin.
Sindh Food Minister Mukesh Chawla has said that the stockists will be given Rs 5,500 per 100 kg sack of confiscated wheat at the government rate. Operations will continue to keep flour prices stable.
