A 36-year-old American woman, Morris Ashley, traveled to Kamalpur Chishtian near Pasrur in Sialkot district to marry 21-year-old Kaif-ul-Wora, whom she met online.
According to details, the two developed a friendship on social media that gradually turned into a romantic relationship. Following this, Ashley travelled to Pakistan to meet her partner in person.
After arriving in Sialkot, she embraced Islam at a local mosque. The conversion ceremony was conducted by Jamia Masjid Khateeb Mufti Noman Rasheed, who also gave her the Islamic name “Khadija.”
The couple subsequently entered into marriage, with Mufti Noman Rasheed solemnizing the nikah in English. The dower (mehr) was set at $2,000.
Speaking on the occasion, the newly converted Khadija said she accepted Islam of her own free will and without any pressure.
The marriage has attracted attention due to its cross-border nature and the couple’s online-origin relationship.
