GILGIT BALTISTAN: One more novel coronavirus case has been reported in Gilgit Baltistan on Wednesday, bringing the tally to two in the region.
According to Gilgit Baltistan’s Health officials, a 14-year-old boy, from Skardu, tested positive for the COVID-19 or novel coronavirus.
The officials maintained that the patient is being provided with the best healthcare facilities in the isolation facility.
A spokesperson for GB government, Faizullah Firaq, said two cases of novel coronavirus had been reported in Gilgit Baltistan, adding that this second case of COVID-19 emerged in Skardu from a boy who flew back from Iran along with his family on March 5.
The officials added that his family members and other relatives are being screened for the deadly coronavirus. With the new case of the diseases in Gilgit Baltistan, the number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan jumped to 20.
Earlier, Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza has said that the number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan has jumped to 19.
On a social media website, Dr. Zafar tweeted, “Cases in Pakistan have more than doubled in the last 24 hours. This is not surprising as the disease has spread in 106 countries”.
He said that all 19 cases have brought this from abroad. All are stable and there is no evidence of local spread as yet.”
