JEDDAH: An emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Kashmir-focused wing has been summoned today after the Indian government’s action to revoke Article 370 of its Constitution.
According to details, representatives from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and other member countries will attend the session.
Earlier, the OIC had said it was deeply concerned about the deteriorating situation in IoK.
Expressing solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir, it said, “The General Secretariat is saddened to learn about the civilian casualties resulting from ceasefire violations carried out by Indian forces across the Line of Control.”
The OIC has reiterated its call upon the international community to rise up to its responsibility for the resolution of Kashmir dispute through the democratic method.
On Monday, Indian Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the resolution to scrape Article 370 in Rajya Sabha, which revoked the special status granted to occupied Kashmir and made the state a Union Territory with the legislature.
Denouncing the move of the Indian government to repeal Article 370 for Kashmir, Pakistan declared to “exercise all possible options to counter the illegal steps.”
