KARACHI: Notorious criminal Ajmal Pahari, who was allegedly involved in scores of terrorism and murder cases, has been released from Sukkur Jail.
According to police, Mohammad Ajmal, better known as Ajmal Pahari was released from Sukkur Central Jail after his bail application was accepted. Pahari was unrecognisable as he stepped out of prison before being taken to Karachi.
Pahari earned notoriety after his involvement in the terror incidents in Orangi Town in 1992. He was arrested in more than 50 criminal cases including murder and other criminal activities but managed to get bail.
In 2010, Pajari was arrested by Rangers in the murder of 15 people. He was released on bail in 11 murder cases within the next two years. Police sad his bail has been accepted in another four murder cases after which he was released from hail.
As soon as he got freed after spending three months in jail in peace disturbance cases, police again apprehended him and put him behind the bars. This time, he was arrested in 4 murder cases and 12 other criminal cases. Pahari remained incarcerated in Karachi Central Jail from 2010 to 2019 and later was shifted to Sukkur Central Jail.
Pahari was first arrested in 2000 and booked in several cases, including one related to the killing of four American Union Texas employees along with their Pakistani driver. However, he was acquitted in all the cases within five years and was released in 2005.
