Nine injured in Chaman blast targeting Levies personnel

QUETTA: At least nine people, including two Levies personnel, were injured on Saturday in an explosion near Levies Lines in Chaman area of Balochistan.
According to the police, the blast took place on Taj Road in Chaman where unidentified miscreants allegedly targeted a vehicle carrying Levies personnel.
The officials said that an improvised explosive device (IED) was planted in a motorcycle parked on the roadside. Rescue officials rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to the hospital.
Meanwhile, heavy contingents of law enforcement agencies have reached and cordoned off the area. The bomb disposable squad rushed to the spot to gather exploded fragments to decipher the type and intensity of the explosion.
The impact of the blast broke the windows of nearby shops and vehicles, the police officials added.
Balochistan government’s spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani condemned the incident and said that the blast was directed towards Levies Risaldar Maj Naseebullah and a tehsildar who remained safe in the incident.
He said that both officers sustained minor injuries and seven others were injured. He said that the terrorist cannot sabotage the peaceful atmosphere of Balochistan with these cowardly acts.
