Newborn baby’s body found in residential building duct in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal

Police in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 13-D2, Karachi, recovered the body of a 3- to 4-day-old newborn from a building’s duct area, after it was allegedly thrown from a residential building.

SHO Gulshan-e-Iqbal said the body was found in the duct of a residential building in Block 13-D-2. Police suspect that the newborn’s body may have been thrown through the building’s duct. The body was recovered from the duct of Tower One of the residential building.

Authorities registered a case against unknown suspects, suspecting the infant was alive when thrown from an upper floor to hide the birth.

Blood marks and splashes were found on the upper floor walls, indicating the baby might have been alive during the fall.

According to the initial investigation, the body is believed to have been there for two to three days.

Police collected evidence from the scene and, after completing the necessary legal procedures, handed the newborn’s body over to Edhi volunteers. Further investigation into the incident is underway.

Last month, a missing six-year old boy was found raped and murdered near Karachi’s Lea Market. Police arrested a 20-year old suspect who happened to be a neighbor of the victim.

Napier police said that the body of the boy was found at Punjab Gali near Spencer’s Eye Hospital, and moved to Karachi’s Civil Hospital for legal formalities.
