KARACHI: New revelations have surfaced in the murder case of 25-year-old Karachi businessman Mir Raza Ali, with the first responder who touched the body now coming forward with sensational details.

Edhi volunteer Mohsin Shah, who was among the first to reach the crime scene, told the media about the condition in which the body was found.

Shah said that when he reached the spot, police mobiles were already present. “The body was not visible due to the bushes. With the help of the police, all the pots and bushes were removed and when the body was straightened, it was found that he had been shot. It seemed that a chemical had been thrown on the body,” he said.

According to Mohsin Shah, when the shirt of the body was lifted, there was a clear bullet mark from which blood was flowing. “Initially, we were called thinking that it was an abandoned body. We told the police that he had been shot, what should we do now?” he added.

Shah further stated that police at the scene told them that senior officers would arrive and asked them to leave the body for some time.

Another revelation

Another volunteer, Javed, who was present at the site, said the face was already badly damaged and fingerprints could not be obtained. “The skin was damaged, it looked like it was burned,” he said.

Meanwhile, the victim’s father, Mir Hussain, has demanded the immediate suspension of DIG East and the SHO of Ferozabad police station.

To seek justice for his son, Mir Hussain led a protest rally from Tariq Road to Nursery, in which a large number of women and children also participated.

Addressing the rally, Mir Hussain demanded the suspension of DIG East Farrukh Lanjar, stating that the senior officer has not contacted the family even once since his son’s death.

“The SHO of Ferozabad police station and others should be suspended. They delayed the case, tried to hide evidence, and played games with us for two days,” Mir Hussain alleged.

Background:

It may be recalled that the case of young businessman Mir Raza Ali has become a high-profile case in the city. His body was found on July 29.

Police had initially attempted to portray the death as a suicide, a claim strongly rejected by the family from day one who maintained that their son was murdered.

The family’s stance was strengthened after flaws were found in the first postmortem report. On court orders, the grave was exhumed and a second postmortem was conducted, which revealed that the bullet had entered from the waist and exited the chest, besides confirming broken ribs and head injuries.

The Sindh Forensic Laboratory has confirmed the identity of the deceased and blood samples. According to the family’s lawyer Jibran Nasir, acid was thrown on the deceased’s face and anesthesia was administered.

It is also pertinent to mention here that police have established a temporary 24-hour check post at the crime scene, with personnel deployed in two shifts from 8 am to 8 pm and 8 pm to 8 am, and barred from leaving the scene until the case is concluded.
