Netflix has officially announced the release date of its new political thriller film A House of Dynamite, as reported by international media.
Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow, the film is based on an extraordinary political narrative and features a large ensemble of internationally renowned actors. The story begins with an unexpected incident in which a missile is launched at the United States from an unknown direction.
Following the attack, an emergency situation arises in the White House, and U.S. officials find themselves on the brink of a delicate and dangerous decision: who the enemy is, and how to respond. The lead roles are played by acclaimed actors Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson, who appear as senior U.S. government officials trying to navigate the national crisis.
The script is written by Noah Oppenheim, who is also a co-producer of the film alongside Kathryn Bigelow and Greg Shapiro. Other notable cast members include Past Lives’ Greta Lee, Reacher’s Willa Fitzgerald, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Moses Ingram, The Night Agent’s Gabriel Basso, The Last of Us’ Kaitlyn Dever, and Jonah Hauer-King, who appeared in the sequel of I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Supporting roles are played by Jared Harris, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos, Jason Clarke, Malachi Beasley, Brian Tee, Brittany O’Grady, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Kyle Allen.
Kathryn Bigelow made history in 2009 by becoming the first woman to win the Oscar for Best Director for her film The Hurt Locker. A House of Dynamite marks her return to directing after her 2017 film Detroit, which starred John Boyega, Will Poulter, Algee Smith, Jason Mitchell, John Krasinski, and Anthony Mackie.
The film will be released in cinemas in early October, followed by its Netflix release on October 24.
