Netflix recently released an action-packed Korean movie ‘Seoul Vibe’ which tells a story of a carefree driving team that goes undercover with holdovers from the old Korean military leadership.
Directed by Moon Hyun Sung, Seoul Vibe is a South Korean Netflix Original crime K-drama movie. Set in 1988, this Korean action comedy stars Yoo Ah-in, who was last seen in Netflix’s ‘Hellbound’, as a leading actor who plays the star driver, Dong-Wook.
Theme
The movie shows the era when South Korea was transitioning toward freer elections after years of military dictatorship.
This film focuses on the drivers of the Sanggye-dong Supreme Team who become involved in a slush fund investigation after receiving the proverbial offer that cannot be refused. Set near the beginning of the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics, this is a retro-themed action flick that promises to be high octane.
Storyline
The heroes of the movie are a driving team with their own custom-car garage, while the baddies hail from the corrupt old regime and have millions stashed away.
Dong-Wook’s team goes undercover for a government investigation, posing as couriers for a big-hair crime boss played by Moon So-ri and a psychotic ex-military man, played by Kim Sung-kyun.
Cast
Seoul Vibe’s cast is actually quite impressive:
Yoo Ah-in (Dong-wook)
Go Kyung-pyo (Woo-sam)
Lee Kyu-hyung (Bok-nam)
Park Ju-hyun (Yoon-hee)
Ong Seong-wu (Joon-ki)
