NEW YORK: Netflix has launched an online store to sell limited-edition apparel, lifestyle merchandise and collectibles based on popular shows, the streaming giant announced.
According to a blog post, Netflix.shop is available in the United States and will expand to other countries in the coming months. The store will sell limited edition products on a regular basis, in addition to products available at retail stores through its partners.
At launch, the offerings include goods inspired by Eden, a recently debuted anime program about a girl raised by robots, along with a set of T-shirts and hoodies from Hypland themed around the anime series Yasuke, which arrived on Netflix in April.
Goods in that Hypland collection range from $30 T-shirts to $82 hoodies. Elsewhere, you can find a Yasuke Haruto clock made by designer Natalie Nguyen for $135, or a limited edition Eden E92 Kendama toy for $50.
The latest launch comes as streaming competition intensifies with a growing list of companies launching their own services and battling for consumers’ attention with new shows and series. Netflix has also created games based on shows “Stranger Things” and “La casa de Papel (Money Heist).”
