After 1899, Netflix has unfortunately added yet another major series to its ever growing list of cancellations and it is an animated series titled ‘Inside Job’.
It’s a big surprise as this animated series was actually renewed for Season 2 and that’s no longer happening. There have been a number of notable cancellations from Netflix in the last year as the streaming service has not only wiped out a bunch of shows after a single season.
“Inside Job,” a sendup of ’90s sci-fi drama “The X-Files,” stars Lizzy Caplan, Christian Slater and Clark Duke. The show was co-executive produced by Takeuchi and “Gravity Falls” creator Alex Hirsch.
The first half of “Inside Job” (10 episodes) premiered on Netflix in October 2021, and the second part (eight episodes) debuted this past November. The animated comedy is about the shadow government — and the dysfunctional team whose daily grind is executing the world’s conspiracies.

The series unfolds in the offices of Cognito Inc., an organization within the shadow government, and follows anti-social tech genius Reagan Ridley (Caplan) who, with her partner Brett Hand (Duke), works to uncover the infinite secrets of the world hidden in the shadows. Despite her optimism, Reagan faces constant hurdles on the way to her dream promotion including her unhinged, conspiracy-mongering father (Slater) and irresponsible coworkers.
Inside Job’s cancellation follows on the heels of a handful of Netflix shows cancelled over the past few months. Most recently, the streamer opted to end 1899 after one season, despite being one of the most-viewed English series. Blockbuster, The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself, The Midnight Club, The Imperfects, and Partner Track also received November and December cancellations after their first seasons. Fate: The Winx Saga and Warrior Nun both released second seasons before getting cut.
