Pop singer Zoheb Hassan has made some shocking revelations about his sister’s late renowned singer Nazia’s death that she was poisoned by her ex-husband Ishtiaq Baig.
The brother-sister duo, that performed in multiple songs together, has been one of a kind in the history of showbiz in the country. However, after Nazia’s death in 2000, Zoheb left his career as a guitarist and flew abroad. Now during his latest visit, the singer says that his sister was poisoned to death by her husband Ishtiaq Baig.
What are the allegations?
During an interview with a private TV channel, Zoheb Hassan after 21 years of Nazia Hassan’s demise talked about his deceased sister, who apparently died of lung cancer, and said she was poisoned by her ex-husband.
Zoheb Hassan expressed that he and his family are in fact annoyed with Ishtiaq Baig as he made a fan page on social media where he often shares his and Nazia’s personal pictures.
According to Hassan, he is annoyed at the fact that he was never a good husband to his wife and now he tries to show that he was indeed concerned about her.
Zoheb also revealed that Nazia once told him that her husband was giving her arsenic, a chemical element, in her food and water. Such chemicals can easily damage skin, liver, and kidney.
Speaking of his interview with Samaa TV, Zohaib clarified that he had not accused Nazia’s ex-husband of anything. “I did not level any allegations. These are things Nazia wrote herself,” he said.
Zohaib explained that in the UK, when someone is not well enough to appear in court, a solicitor is appointed, to whom a statement is provided under oath. “The solicitor met Nazia and recorded a 10-page long testimony”, Zohaib said.
“The testimony clearly states that the man had her eat or drink something and treated her very badly,” he added.
Ishtiaq Baig response
Ishtiaq Baig questioned why Zohaib was sharing his “story” 21 years after the pop singer’s demise. Ishtiaq, speaking to Samaa TV, had said UK authorities had issued a certificate that attributed Nazia Hassan’s cause of death to cancer, adding that till her death, she remained his wife.
According to Mirza Ishtiaq Baig, Zohaib Hassan continues to make baseless allegations against him out of vengeance. “Our problems started when Nazia gave up singing after marriage and due to that, Zohaib’s career plummeted and he blamed me for it,” alleged Ishtiaq.
Nazia Hassan’s former husband said there was no truth to allegations that Zohaib was levelling against him. “I loved Nazia a lot and love her still,” he said, adding that he had never married again after he because “I still miss her in my life”.
According to a media outlet, Ishtiaq Baig also questioned the timing of the accusations. He said the claims of poisoning Nazia are a conspiracy to divert the media’s attention from the Noor Mukadam case.
As per claims by Ishtiaq Baig, Zohaib Hassan has close ties with Zahir Jaffer because of their mothers. Ishtiaq Baig revealed that Muneeza Basir is the best friend of Asmat Jaffer, the mother of Zahir Jaffer.
“Zohaib is a very close friend of Zahir Jaffer,” Ishtiaq Baig said, adding, “Till yesterday, the media’s main focus was on Noor Mukaddam’s case, now all the outlets are focused on the allegations by Zohaib.”
