According to details, Fatima Jinnah was the younger sister of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. She was born on July 31, 1893, in Karachi and chose dentistry as her profession. She studied dentistry at Calcutta University and opened her own clinic in 1923.
Notably, Fatima Jinnah was among the first professional female dentists during British rule, although her contributions are more recognized for her national service than for her medical profession.
Fatima Jinnah played a key role in the struggle for the creation of Pakistan. She worked alongside her brother Muhammad Ali Jinnah and brought together the women of the subcontinent on a platform for the cause of a separate homeland for the Muslims of India.
For her role in the independence movement, Fatima Jinnah is honored with the title “Mother of the Nation.” After independence, she founded the Pakistan Women’s Association, which played a vital role in the resettlement of women who migrated from India during the partition.
