ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has intensified its crackdown on fake and suspicious identity documents, issuing notices to 741 more individuals in Punjab.
The authority has warned that identity cards of those failing to appear within 15 days will be blocked.
According to NADRA’s regional headquarters, a preliminary list of 741 suspicious identity card holders has been prepared, and notices have been dispatched to the concerned individuals. The list includes residents from Jhelum district and various tehsils.
A spokesperson said all those identified have been directed to appear at their respective NADRA zonal offices within 15 days, carrying necessary documentation to verify their identity.
Officials cautioned that failure to comply will result in the blocking of identity cards, with further action to be taken against suspicious individuals and their families.
During the ongoing scrutiny, NADRA has also revealed that Afghan refugees were illegally obtaining Pakistani identity cards.
The revelation underscores the scale of fraudulent practices that have prompted the authority to tighten verification measures across the country.
NADRA officials reiterated that the campaign is part of a broader effort to secure the national database and restore public confidence in the integrity of identity documentation.
