MTI Act to improve management of public sector hospitals: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said that the MTI Act has enabled improved and modern management of public sector hospitals.
The prime minister refuted all the rumours regarding the privatization of the public sector hospitals, adding that the MTI Ordinance is aimed to implement improved and modern management in the hospitals.
Imran Khan took to twitter and said, “The MTI Act/Ordinance is to enable improved & modern management of public sector hospitals”.

Imran Khan added, “This is not privatization but part of our public sector hospitals’ reform plan. The hospitals will remain Govt hospitals. Better managed hospitals will mean better facilities for patients”.
Earlier, Provincial Minister of Punjab for Health Dr. Yasmin Rashid also rejected the rumours of privatization of the public sector medical teaching hospitals.  The minister added that the MTI Act will improvise the management of the hospitals to facilitate the patients.
According to the MTI Ordinance, the government hospitals shall be run by a fully empowered Board of Governors (BoGs) which must consist of members from the private sector.
