KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Syeda Tehseen Abidi announced her decision to join the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Ms Abidi called on PPP leader Faryal Talpur and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome in the party and being provided a platform to work for the prosperity of the country.
She announced her decision at a press conference along with Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani whom she thanked for support and encouraging her to take the decision. Abidi has served in the past as member of the city council and in-charge of the MQM’s social media section

Addressing the press conference, Abidi she had remained associated with the MQM for long and her two brothers and three relatives had also sacrificed their lives for the party.
She lamented the MQM had failed to maintain its existence as a political organisation and was divided into factions. She said the PPP was the only political party which genuinely cared for the country, province and city, and he was please at her decision to join it.
MQM’s Markazi Tanzeem-e-Azadari president Syed Muhammad Naqi also joined the PPP on the occasion. He said that he decided to join the PPP to serve Karachi and Sindh as it was the only party with the ability to serve the country. He said gone were the days of politics of hatred when people of Karachi and the rest of Sindh were made to fight on ethnic and religious baisis.
Sindh minister Saeed Ghani said people of other political parties were joining the PPP as it was committed to serving Karachi and Sindh province. He added that leaders and activists of other political parties had been joining the PPP without any pre-condition of getting any a party position. He assured the new entrants in the PPP that the party would give them respect and honour they deserved.
A few days ago, Waqar Hussain Shah, a former MPA in Sindh Assembly belonging MQM also announced joining PPP along with a large number of his political associates from Korangi area.
