KARACHI: In violation of directives issued by the Sindh High Court (SHC), Muhammad Kashif Siddique, a BS-19 officer, has been posted as the secretary of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK).
The high court had issued restraining orders to the Sindh government over posting non-cadre officer to cadre post. According to the notification number NO.BIE /CHAIRMAN/678/2021 issued by the BIEK Chairman, Dr Saeeduddin, Muhammad Kashif Siddiqui, Director Public Relations and Information (BPS-19) has been appointed as Secretary Board, who has also been given the powers of DDO.
Informed sources have claimed that there was no PRO post available in the board code and SNE, while Kashif Siddiqui was recruited as PRO in Grade 17 at the behest of MQM, which is a non-cadre post. Despite this, Kashif Siddiqui was promoted to the post of Non-Cadre and Non-Promotion Post and was made Director Public Relations and Information in Grade 19.
He had served as the administrator of Hyderabad and director-inquiries at the anti-corruption establishment. He had also worked at the Sindh home department and excise & taxation department.
However, after the decision of former Chief Justice Sindh High Court Amir Muslim Hani, all the officers except Muhammad Kashif Siddiqui were sent back to the Inter Board from deputation.
A recommendation was sent to the Secretary Board and Universities for Kashif Siddiqui after which he has been appointed to the post of Secretary using his political influence.
Sources close to Chairman Dr Saeeduddin have given the impression that Kashif Siddiqui belonging to MQM has been given posting on the orders of former president’s sister and PPP leader Faryal Talpur.
