LAHORE: The Special Anti-Terrorism Court has extended the judicial remand of Abid Malhi, a culprit in sexual assault on the Lahore motorway, and his accomplice Shafqat, for another 10 days.
ATC Judge Arshad Hussain Bhatta heard the case. The investigation team told the court that accused Abid Malhi had undergone a polygraph test. Accused Abid Malhi was re-tested for DNA.
The investigation team told the court that the identification parade of accused Abid Malhi would also be held soon.
The court adjourned the hearing for ten days, seeking a full report on the fine at the next hearing. It may be recalled that the main accused Abid Malhi, who escaped after gang-raping a woman on the motorway was arrested from Faisalabad on 10th October.
Accused Shafqat had confessed to the crime in police custody while the DNA of the accused also matched with the report of the victim. The anti-terrorism court had remanded the three accused, including the main accused Shafqat, to jail on judicial remand till 29th September.

It may be recalled that on the night of 9th September, a woman was tortured and gang-raped in front of her children on the motorway near Gujjarpura.
According to the FIR, the woman’s car was stopped due to running out of petrol and she was waiting for her husband to come while she had also sought help from the motorway police but she could not get any help.
