ISLAMABAD: An accountability court has extended the hearing of the money laundering case filed against former president Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur till 11th February.
AC Judge Muhammad Azam Khan conducted the hearing. Counselor of the accused, Farooq Naek submitted a plea in the court seeking today’s exemption from the court appearance as Asif Ali Zardari skipped the hearing due to health conditions.
In his plea, the counselor appealed the court to that his client was unwell. On the other hand, the defence counsel complained about a non-provision of copies of the supplementary reference. To, this the judge ordered the National Accountability Court (NAB) prosecutor to provide copies of the supplementary evidence.
The money laundering case refers to the embezzlement of Rs4.4 billion. The NAB has accused Zardari and Talpur of being involved in extending the loan and its misappropriation by M/s Parthenon Private Limited, M/S Park Lane Estate Private Limited and others.
