Former National Assembly member Mohsin Dawar sustained injuries on Saturday in an attack by unidentified assailants in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Following the incident, he was promptly transported to the hospital. Dawar, who serves as the central chairman of the National Democratic Movement, expressed concerns earlier in the day on social media platform X, stating that polling station staff in NA-40 were reportedly absent.
Dawar further accused Iqbal Wazir of winning PK-104 through rigging, claiming a margin of victory by 24,000 votes. In a video statement on the day of the polling, Dawar asserted that Taliban forces had taken control of polling stations in Tappi, North Waziristan, within his constituency, NA-40. He disclosed an earlier incident where three female polling agents narrowly escaped a morning blast. Despite conveying security concerns to the District Returning Officer (DRO) regarding Tappi, Dawar claimed that his warnings were disregarded.
Simultaneously, the day saw Additional SHO Din Muhammad Sherani losing his life in a terrorist attack on a police vehicle in Dera Ismail Khan. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, at least three terrorists were neutralized by the police.
