KARACHI: Mirpurkhas Deputy Commissioner Zahid Husain Memon passed away in Karachi late on Wednesday from the coronavirus.
Memon has tested positive for COVID-19 a few days earlier and was then admitted to a private hospital in Karachi where he was put on the ventilator. He was 47-years-old.
Memon remained at the forefront in the fight against the deadly virus and then during the recent devastating floods in the district.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Chief Secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah have expressed their deep sorrow over Memon’s passing. Memon’s funeral prayers will be held in Mirpurkhas. He had earlier served as Deputy Commissioner West in Karachi.
A few months ago, Syed Mehdi Shah, the brother-in-law of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who was posted as Deputy Commissioner in Mirpurkhas district also died of the virus after he had returned from Iran.
