LAHORE: In a recent incident, another eight-year-old boy has been raped and killed by his brother whose body was recovered from a drain in Lahore’s Nishtar Colony.
According to police sources, the suspect had lured his younger brother away from home on the pretext of buying him candies from a nearby shop. Later, the accused took the minor boy to a deserted place and hit him with bricks and a glass bottle to death after sexual assault, police added.
The accused, later on, dumped his body into a drain. Police had taken the suspect into custody by taking notice of his suspicious behavior on the occasion.
DIG Shariq said that police had substantial evidence to assert that Faizan was the murderer of his minor brother. The suspect also escorted police to the crime site, he added. Police on Friday found clues that the suspect was a serial pedophile killer.
A cousin of the victim, a five-year-old boy, had also gone missing four months back. There was no news about him since then.
Sources said that police were scrutinizing this aspect also however, considerable evidence to assert that he has been involved in other such crimes earlier is premature. The arrested suspect has been identified as Faizan, 16.
Sexual violence against minors is rampant in Lahore as horrific incidents of violence keep on being reported every other day.
Recently, a six-year-old girl had been assaulted after strangling to death by two suspects including her cousin in the Sundar area of Lahore.
The suspects had dumped her body into a pond to hide their crime. Two weeks back, an alleged serial rapist who sexually assaulted six minor girls in the Sarai Mughal area of Pattoki was arrested by the police.
A case had been registered against the suspect. Police said the suspect used to lure girls by different means. The victims were between 10 and 12 years of age and he had been arrested on the identification of the victims.
A report by Sahil, a non-governmental organization, disclosed that at least eight children fell victim to sexual abuse daily on an average in the country.
