ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department on Sunday predicted heavy rain and snowfall in northern parts of Balochistan including Quetta and Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).
According to the Met Office report,   rain and snowfall in Balochistan’s Quetta, Mastung, Ziarat, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Harnai and Pashin and the Gilgit-Baltistan, on today and tomorrow, Met office forecast.
Heavy snowfall, in Quetta, Ziarat, Qila Abdullah and Pashin districts and several areas of Gilgit Baltistan, could interrupt normal life and transportations in these areas, according to the alert.
Heavy rain may cause flash flooding in local drain ways in Quetta, Qila Abdullah, Harnai, Chaghi, Sibbi, Mastung and Bolan districts of the province during the phase.
On the other hand, Quetta Metropolitan Corporation has ordered the staff to make sure of their presence during the wet spell.
The authorities have imposed a ban on visiting the sites of dams and other picnic places during the rainy weather spell. Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has also issued a circular to district administrations to take protective steps to meet any emergency.
The met office said in its forecast, Karachi is likely to receive light rainfall between Monday night and Tuesday morning; a westerly wave will come in Balochistan from Iran today bringing a new spell of rainfall in several parts of Pakistan.
Rain is expected in Sindh’s districts of Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Jacobabad and Shikarpur on Monday, while light rain is expected in Karachi on Monday night, according to the met office.
Gilgit-Baltistan’s  Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has also issued a circular to different district administrations to take protective measures especially earthquake-hit areas in the severe cold to meet any tragedy.
